The region’s long-term water supply reliability depends upon a continued commitment to water-use conservation and efficiency by residents and organizations. Mission RCD established one of the first Mobile Irrigation Labs in the state providing irrigation system evaluations on a wide variety of irrigation systems and crops county-wide and has been working with our partners on water conservation on residential, commercial, and agricultural properties since the 1990s. Over the past 5 years, Mission RCD has worked with more than 2,500 property owners in both the landscape and agriculture sectors to improve water use efficiency in irrigation and eliminate irrigation run-off into storm drains, water courses, and ultimately, the Pacific Ocean.
Mission RCD water conservation programs are based on NRCS best management practices and centered in equity and inclusion, supporting the California Department of Water Resources, San Diego County Water Authority, Rancho California Water District, and the Municipal Water District of Orange County.
